Alopecia Areata: Features and Psychological Profiles (South American Perspectives)
摘要
Alopecia areata (AA) is a dermatological disease characterized by non-scarring hair loss and an unpredictable evolution. Many factors are involved in the pathogenesis of the disease, but psychological factors have a significant impact on its development. South America has produced some interesting studies regarding AA; however, some important limitations persist that affect the quality of life of patients with AA. In this chapter, we describe the features of AA, as well as the psychological profile of this patient and the contributions made by some South American authors to the knowledge of this disease.
