Quantum Computing in Health Informatics: Enhancing Disaster Preparedness

Health informatics provides a robust framework for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating critical health data, essential for managing crises like pandemics, natural disasters, and bioterrorism. This chapter examines the impact of quantum computing on health informatics, focusing on data security, real-time decision support, and predictive analytics. Methodologically, the advantages of quantum bits (qubits) over classical bits in health informatics for disaster readiness were explored using qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings highlight the integration of quantum computing in disaster situations, improving data security through quantum key distribution (QKD), and optimizing medical resources. Additionally, technical and ethical challenges, such as quantum decoherence and data privacy, are addressed, underscoring the need for strong regulations and equitable access. This comprehensive review illustrates how quantum advancements can enhance disaster preparedness and response in healthcare.
