Impact of Electronic Waste on Environment and Its Management an Overview
摘要
The rapid advancement of technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, revolutionizing various sectors and making numerous tasks more accessible. This increasing reliance on electronic devices, coupled with continuous technological evolution, has resulted in the frequent replacement of old devices with newer models. Consequently, the discarded electronic products, termed electronic waste or E-waste, have accumulated at an alarming rate. E-waste encompasses damaged, outdated, or unwanted electronic devices such as laptops, computers, monitors, phones, and TVs. A significant concern arises from the hazardous components present in E-waste, including metals like lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium, which pose risks to human health and the environment. India stands as one of the top producers of E-waste annually. Efficient and environmentally-friendly E-waste management systems are crucial to mitigate these threats. This paper offers an overview of E-waste, its detrimental effects on the environment, and potential management strategies.
