Yagi Uda Antenna: Performance Analysis and Parameter Optimization in High Frequency Operation

In this paper, the construction of a cost-effective Yagi-Uda antenna operating at a high frequency is studied. The antenna consists of the reflector, a driven element, and directors with the folded dipole used as the driven element with the radiation resistance of 300 Ω connected to a 75 Ω coaxial cable through a balun. The operational frequency is set to 491.143 MHz which determines most of the size of the components of the antenna. Testing results show that the northwest direction, higher elevation, diagonal orientation, and outdoor environment shows a stable and clear television reception. Furthermore, the trials show that Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines as the location of the antenna, received more channels as it is nearer to the television transmitter towers. The testing of all the best conditions in the location shows a 100% success rate, with 56 channels obtained.
