Evaluation of the Influence of Electrophysical Processing on the Germination Energy and Laboratory Germination of Seeds of Tree Species

The most urgent problem today is the restoration of forest resources, agroforestry, afforestation and landscaping plantations, which have been subject to serious loss and reduction of their areas due to climate change, fires, as well as uncontrolled destruction of plantations. And this problem can be solved by using seedlings of trees and shrubs for this, which must be healthy and well developed, especially those that have been grown from seeds. One of the serious factors that influence the development of seedlings is the processing of seeds of tree and shrub crops for landscaping in an electric field of high alternating voltage. The experiments carried out showed that the best effect is observed when treating seeds that were 180 s in an alternating current electric field with the strength of 4.7 and 5 kV/cm. At the same time, the length of the main root in the experimental batches showed an increase of 30% than in the control samples without treatment; the number of lateral roots increased by 40% relative to the control; the length of the seedling stem also increased by 32% compared to the control. At the same time, a comparative assessment with the variant of seed treatment in a disinfectant revealed a less pronounced effect—the length of the main root of the seedlings increased only by 19%, and the number of lateral roots—by 13%. It can be unequivocally stated that experimental studies on electrical stimulation with an assessment of the morphometric parameters of seedlings confirm the hypothesis put forward about the positive effect of a high-voltage alternating current electric field on seed germination, growth and development of plants from them.
