Tourism and Its Role in the Sustainable Development of Andaman and Nicobar Islands from the Residents’ Perspective

摘要

Tourism has become a major global industry with substantial economic growth. Many countries use tourism to boost regional development and foster new economic initiatives. This paper examined the impact of tourism on the sustainable development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from the perspectives of residents. In this research, 274 respondents were taken for the survey. The researcher utilized structured questionnaires for data collection. Statistical techniques like descriptive analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were conducted. The survey showed a favorable perception of the impacts of tourism on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, encompassing economic, environmental, and social dimensions. The study concluded that well-managed tourism could catalyze sustainable development, highlighting the potential benefits it brings to various facets of the destination. These findings hold valuable insights for policymakers to prospective plans and strategies for promoting the sustainable tourism industry.
