Europe’s Journey to Carbon Neutrality: Pioneering a Continent Without Emissions
摘要
The Paris Agreement is a significant international agreement aimed at limiting the rise in global temperatures to less than 2 °C and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The global effort to address climate change and establish a framework for collaborative initiatives across nations is a universal activity. The agreement prioritises the importance of adaptive capacity, resilience, and vulnerability mitigation in relation to the effects of climate change, especially for nations that are weak and undergoing development. The Paris Agreement is highly significant in the areas of international law and climate policy, highlighting the effectiveness of multilateral approaches in tackling complex global concerns. The effectiveness of the effort depends on strong enforcement mechanisms and the steadfast dedication of states, civil society, and the corporate sector to execute their obligations and facilitate significant changes in the pursuit of a sustainable, low-carbon global environment. In 2019, the European Union conducted a comprehensive evaluation of its energy policy framework with the aim of shifting away from fossil fuels and towards more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy sources.
