Elementary Particles as the Basis for the Operator Hierarchy

The operator hierarchy ranks operators. The least complex operators are hadrons. But hadrons are not the lowest level of organisation in the universe. That position is, as far as we know, reserved for the elementary particles. Accordingly, for a complete ranking of the basic levels of organisation in nature, it is inevitable to include the elementary particles. Without this connection, the whole hierarchy of the operators would be left hanging in the air, as it were. It turns out that it is not difficult to extend the operator hierarchy to include elementary particles. This can be achieved by adding three additional low-level transitions. The systems at these levels do not have dual closure and are not operators. In order to add these lower levels of organisation, a new figure has been developed (Fig. 6.1), called the ‘extended operator hierarchy‘.
