The Automated Guitarist: A Programmed-Based Musical Robot
摘要
The purpose of this work is to design and develop an automated guitarist, a robotic system capable of playing the guitar with precision and accuracy near human abilities. The motivation behind this project stems from the growing interest in automated musicians and the potential applications they hold in various domains, such as entertainment, education, and music production. By combining mechanical engineering, robotics, and software development, a system is developed to emulate human finger movements and produce realistic guitar sounds. The automated guitarist consists of a mechanical assembly that replicates the finger placements and strumming patterns on a guitar. The developed system serves as a foundation for further research and development in the field of robotic instruments, opening avenues for advancements in automated music production, live performances, and interactive musical experiences. After designing the robot and testing it on a real guitar, the results showed precision and efficiency in playing the sound notes and therefore validated the proposed system. This Robotic Automated Guitarist can be a good replacement for an absent artist during a live concert since it can perform without any human help. It can also be helpful in the field of music education where it can help students learn and practice even if their instructor is busy and not able to show up.
