A Blockchain-Based Solution for the Security and Management of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in Healthcare
摘要
The healthcare sector has seen an increase in the adoption of technology with one area being changing medical records from paper to digital. With this change, it has brought about issues of security, the overall integrity of the records and the ownership of the data within. Many authors have discussed different methods such as advanced cryptographic algorithms and cloud computing but the issues labelled above remain potent within the healthcare sector. In the case of blockchain, its emergence as a more secure management system in the supply chain sector with Walmart and in finance as a transparent payment platform. In this paper, we discuss how blockchain can be a viable technology when managing and securing electronic medical records, along with placing users at the heart of the system to allow for stronger management, transparency and security. We cover the overall architecture of the solution along with how it was evaluated to show why our blockchain of choice was better then that of the main Ethereum network.
