Design and Implementation of a Home Electricity Monitoring System (ElecTech)

This paper presents the design and implementation of a device that tracks electricity usage through a website called Thing Speak and the GSM network. This device is named “ElecTech”. It supports wireless connection using the Internet, which records the electricity usage of houses/factories by sending data from ElecTech to the website and mobile phones. Moreover, the user can directly check the newly recorded reading through the device. The main reason we came up with ElecTech is to recognize the necessity of providing information about the current state of electricity in houses and factories to avoid any danger caused by electricity. Therefore, the device sends data to the website and the mobile phone before a power outage or high voltage detection. After connecting ElecTech with multiple devices, the results display different readings according to the power usage of each device. That demonstrates the efficiency of ElecTech in recording measurements and sending them to the user. The results of several tests have proven our design and implementation of ElecTech to be successful and have excellent potential for electricity home monitoring systems.
