Smart and Sustainable Mobility Technologies: Technology Acceptance Models Constructs Review

As urban areas continue to grow, the need for sustainable mobility solutions becomes increasingly critical. Smart mobility technologies, including electric vehicles (EVs), bike-sharing systems, and autonomous transport, offer promising avenues to address urban congestion and reduce environmental impacts. However, the success of these technologies heavily depends on user acceptance. This article provides a comprehensive review of existing research on acceptance models for smart and sustainable mobility solutions, with a focus on identifying the factors that influence individuals’ decisions to adopt these technologies. Through a systematic analysis of literature published from 2014 to 2024, author explore social acceptance factors (constructs) within technology acceptance models (TAMs) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and their extensions. The results of literature studies confirmed that, considering the specifics of solutions in intelligent and sustainable mobility, environmental issues were not sufficiently emphasized in existing models. New constructs that have emerged in the models include those related to trust in technology, privacy, and data protection.
