Electronic Health Record System Design for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Case Study
摘要
Electronic Health Record systems (EHR) have the potential to enhance service delivery and empower evidence-based research in the healthcare sector, yet their complexity frequently leads to inefficiencies and user resistance. A major challenge requiring domain expertise in this context is the identification and interpretation of correlations between disease-specific parameters within the EHR system. In this paper, we present early outcomes from our collaborative research effort with medical domain specialists aimed at designing a graphical user interface for the registry of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients. The development of this tool is guided by an adopted double diamond design framework which was tailored to the specific requirements of healthcare professionals to improve domain knowledge transfer from medical domain specialists and enhance effective interdisciplinary collaboration. This research initiative represents a potentially important contribution to the field of IBD treatment research, especially given the absence of existing tools offering comparable functionality.
