Generation of Bending Waves in a Mass-in-Mass Metamaterial

Generation of bending waves is studied for the mass-in-mass metamaterial model. Boundary periodic excitation demonstrates gradual formation of a harmonic wave inside the metamaterial in an agreement with the dispersion relation. There is no harmonic waves for the excitation frequencies inside the band gap. The localized wave excitation does not result in the formation of stable traveling localized waves due to the strong dispersion.
