摘要

Traditionally, the drying process of wet porous materials requires high energy consumption, resulting in high costs to industrial companies. Then, drying studies play an important role for optimizing the process and allow safe decision making. This chapter focuses on the advanced drying theory and engineering applications of wet clay product. Herein, different topics related to manufacturing, drying process, and advanced mathematical modeling (lumped, distributed and dryer levels) are present and discussed. Information about heat and mass transfer, dimension variations and hygro-thermal-elastic stress in arbitrary-shaped porous materials are performed. Applications have been done to ceramic brick and sanitary ware, and results of the moisture content and temperature of the ceramic specimens are shown, compared with experimental data and analyzed.
