The Great New Deal: FDR & Truman

  • Riley Clare Valentine

摘要

Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Truman establish the groundwork for the theoretical content of progressive liberalism. Progressive liberalism is a prioritization of equality and interprets happiness as human flourishing. Ever in Roosevelt’s expansive discourse on equality, it centers itself upon rights – seen most clearly in the Economic Bill of Rights. Truman elaborates upon Roosevelt’s discourse, expanding equality from solely a question of economics to one of ontological equality.
