The Cosmological Argument: Leibniz’s Unlimited, and Kant’s Limited, Rationality

In this paper, I assess the relationship between logos, the intelligible structure of the universe, and human cognition, by comparing two attitudes towards the cosmological argument. Leibniz’s transcendental realism causes him to project the rational principles of the human intellect as ontological principles of reality in itself. Kant’s transcendental idealism limits principles of reason only to possible experience, and so withholds cognition from logos.
