Assessing the French Value Network of Air-to-Water Heat Pump and Confronting It with Functional Economy Principles
摘要
As the French housing refurbishment progress is very heterogeneous in the territory, the issue of massively and effectively providing renewable energy-based heating product is still on-going. To do so, the possibility of switching to functional economy model is examined in this study: in this model, the product provider keeps the ownership on it instead of leaving it to the beneficiary. In exchange, they will take in charge costs related to utilization, which drive them to improve the reliability and the durability of their product. Air-to-water heat pump (AWHP) is chosen as one of the most relevant technologies to replace fossil-based heaters. A sector analysis is carried out, to highlight the points of attention concerning a switch to an organization based on the functionality economy. Then, the current value network of the sector is modelled using SADT standard. This model is confronted to a proposition of a new organization based on the functional economy. Finally, some essential questions are raised, such as the governance model and the choice of the end-of-life scenario related with residual value of the heat pump.
