The proper refraction of light onto the retina depends on the geometric shape of the cornea. There are diseases, such as keratoconus, that can directly affect the corneal morphology in different degrees, with greater deformation indicating a more severe condition. According to classification systems, this also implies a higher degree of the disease. Galilei topographer can be considered as one of the essential tools for evaluating corneal architecture, it is a device based on advanced imaging techniques that provides the sets of spatial points representing corneal surfaces that have been used for this study. The aim of this research is to present a new method for classifying keratoconus, based on the calculation of a new geometric parameter that examines the cornea in various radial sections. Designing new classification strategies for keratoconus based on geometric data could improve the diagnosis of this ocular pathology in clinical practice.

摘要
