This volume explores the intersection of migration and masculinities within contemporary Hispanic, Latinx, and Francophone literatures and cultures. It emphasizes the transnational nature of these cultural representations, focusing on how migration shapes and redefines masculinity in the Global North, particularly in North America and Europe. The study draws attention to the influence of historical colonial and neocolonial relationships and the resultant cultural and linguistic exchanges. The work also highlights the underrepresentation of masculinities in literary and cultural studies, despite the field’s growth within the social sciences. The analysis integrates perspectives from critical studies of men and masculinities (CSMM), postcolonialism, and transnationalism, advocating for a more nuanced understanding of how migration impacts the construction and perception of masculinity across different cultural contexts.
