Penetrant Testing (PT) is to be carried out according to procedures based on ISO 3452-1 or a recognised accepted standard, and specific requirements in this chapter. The requirements contained herein are primarily intended for penetrant surface inspection of welds in hull structures of surface vessels. These requirements are intended to apply to full and partial penetration welds of steel and aluminium alloys.
