Inevitable Technology

This chapter narrates the story of technology’s integration into our lives. It delineates characteristics of technology, such as flexibility, maturity, and reliability, among others, and its effect on society, and investigates models for describing the life cycle of technology. In this chapter we also introduce the concept of inevitable technology — technology that asserts itself upon users, which is the main focus of our book, and state our explicit interest in the question of whether the feature of inevitability can influence the adoption of a specific technology by the education system.
