Practical and Theoretical Study of Abrasive Particle Velocities Observation in the High-Speed Water Jet Using Optical PTV–LIF Method and CFD Numerical Computation
摘要
This paper deals with the observation and determination of abrasive particle velocities in high-speed water jet using optical PTV-LIF methods. A commercial injection cutting head was used for the generation of multiphase turbulent AWJ. High-pressure flow monitoring, PTV-LIF methods and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) were used to study the multiphase flow. The main emphasis of this work is on the comparison of the results obtained by direct observation of abrasive particle velocities and from high-pressure water flow measurements with the results obtained by numerically modelling 3D multiphase turbulent flows. For this purpose, four levels of water pressure and one level of abrasive flow are compared. The abrasive size distribution parameter is considered for the experimental part and the numerical computation. The results obtained from the experiments and the numerical simulation of the abrasive water jet show very good agreement. The details of the performed studies are presented in this paper.
