Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) Prioritization of Landslide-Causing Factors

Prioritization of factors responsible for a landslide trigger is an essential process in landslide susceptibility analysis. This allows the researcher to recognize how important each factor is. If time or resources are short, the least important factors may have to be left out. This paper aims to employ Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) to prioritize factors responsible for landslide susceptibility analysis. The AHP methodology will be utilized to analyze and rank the relative importance of various factors influencing landslides. This was based on old landslide data and also considering sensitivity of occurrences. The results classifying to five number of classes with the ArcGIS facility and occurrences of landslide under each category. The overall assessment is based with the 39 number of old landslides selected and verified at site. In such situation more than 84.6% of landslides fall in the category of moderate susceptibility to high susceptibility. The results will provide valuable insights into the factors that require immediate attention for mitigating landslide incidences.
