Reconceptualisation of Immobility: Dysmobility

  • José Luis Dinamarca-Montecinos

摘要

The objectives of this chapter are to reconceptualise immobility through the lens of Dysmobility. To this end, we describe and analyse the aspects not covered by the classic definition of ‘Immobillity syndrome’, to propose a way to complement these aspects not covered through a reconceptualisation of this syndrome. We also specify some differences with other terms of relatively common use in clinical practice. Both Immobility and Dysmobility syndromes are analysed and compared using the headings: etiological, diagnostic, evolutionary, therapeutic, and prognostic, allowing a new concept called Dysmobility to emerge as a distinct entity with a specific definition. Finally, clarifications are made in relation to the concepts of prostration, motor dysfunction, and dysfunctional movements.
