Neurological Considerations of Hip Injuries in Sport
摘要
In the region of the hip, there are several important nerves that should be considered, assessed, and rehabilitated. These nerves innervate the muscles, superficial and deep tissues locally and as distal as the foot. Gaining an appreciation of the nerves that traverse this region is important for several reasons. One very important reason is the nerve entrapment that can occur in the region of injury. With injury, inflammation, or trauma, the normal neurotransmitter propagation, gliding, and sliding of the nerve bundles may become impeded. This could lead to poor neurodynamics or nerve function that may limit the ability to recover from injury fully.
