Internal Rotators of the Hip

  • Christine Foss

摘要

Hip internal rotation, if dysfunctional, is a biomechanical fault that leads to a host of injuries from the lower back to the lower limb. A decrease in hip internal rotation can be a precursor to lower back pain, labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement, and osteoarthritis. No primary muscles support this action. In fact, only secondary movers produce this very important hip motion. Understanding the mechanics, kinetic chain, assessment, and recovery of hip internal rotation will assist in a more comprehensive understanding of hip injuries that are seemingly acute or resistant to improvement.
