Grossing of Gastrointestinal Specimens
摘要
Gastrointestinal grossing includes a wide variety of specimens from esophagus to rectum. A logical and problem-solving approach to grossing gastrointestinal specimens is presented. The presence or absence of circumferential radial margins varies along the luminal gastrointestinal tract which makes grossing gastrointestinal specimens unique among the grossing of other organ systems. Proper orientation and sectioning of polyps, Hirschsprung’s specimens, and diverticulosis among others have been covered. Step by step grossing, pictures, and an example dictation with respective CPT codes (see Table 5.1) have been included for reader’s understanding.
