Grossing of Skin Specimens

Grossing skin specimens requires a highly consistent, almost obsessive-compulsive, approach to ensure that the pathologist can make an accurate diagnosis. Two essential elements that contribute to effective grossing are (1) understanding the lesion’s nature and (2) preserving the specimens’ proper orientation.
