Reimagining Redemptive-Resistance Movements: Transactive Engagements, Altruistic Sacrifices, and Sanctified Solidarities

The second empirical chapter looks at later manifestations of transnational solidarities shaped among pro-Islamic movements spinning through Turkey and Palestine over the 2005–2015 period. Pro-Islamic mobilizations surpass the physical-psychical boundaries overarching the space–time through past memories, present experiences, and future imageries. In that regard, the rising activism of “National View Movement (Millî Görüş Hareketi-MGH)” is taken as a psycho-social case for analyzing transversal implications of altruistic sacrifices in Turkish-Palestinian affairs. In some formidable ways, the unfolding of “Mavi Marmara (MM)” voyage has marked a key turning point in late May 2010, and beyond. The spinning stories of MM voyagers have been influential in reshaping collective memories and transnational imageries beyond pro-Islamic mobilizations. The pragmatist quantal analyses of MM narratives provide thematic points to understand the transversal dynamics of Islamic movement intra-actions beyond the boundaries of the Mediterranean and Levant. By fully and deeply exposing those psycho-social encounters, one may bring to the fore tangling configurations of redemptive-resistant sentiments and sanctified solidarities across space–time. The MM incident implicitly enfolded a kindle of sacrifice that gradually sparked trans-local solidarities and mass mobilizations across the Mediterranean and the Levant. The entangled effervescences spiraled into popular (Arab/non-Arab, Muslim/non-Muslim) uprisings since 2011, which unfolded as another space–time of social “springs.”
