Artificial Intelligence-Based Sea Level Prediction: A Review of Recent Studies from a Coastal Engineering Perspective
摘要
Sea level changes is one of the most noteworthy events that affected the World population living in coastal regions. Therefore, sea level change prediction on coastal regions are extremely important challenges for management of coastal zones and mitigating the adverse impact of its variations. As one of the major indicators of global climate change, several sea level prediction studies have been published by the researchers using tide gauge observations. This chapter presents a review of the recent studies on coastal sea level change across different coastal zones of the World. Based on the review, most advanced and recent methodologies for sea level prediction were presented. Also, the results of the studies were interpreted, and main outcomes have been summarized in this chapter. Our review showed that utilizing AI-based sea level prediction modelling require to combine various data combinations with advance statistical analysis techniques. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)-based models was found as the most commonly used artificial intelligence method in sea level prediction studies. In addition, meteorological factors such as temperature and air pressure have been reported by the authors as the increase prediction accuracy. Lastly, future directions of the sea level prediction studies were interpreted.
