Groundwater Pollution in Urban Areas
摘要
The access to safe drinking water is a basic human right. Groundwater is the largest and relatively easily accessible freshwater supply on earth. In the past, groundwater was assumed to be protected from pollution by layers of rock and soil that act as filters. Recently, however, groundwater has become more and more polluted by chemicals. Drinking water contaminated with microorganisms is the main route of transmission for many waterborne diseases. This paper reviews the current state of research on groundwater contamination, entry pathways and the impact of urban areas on groundwater quality. It discusses the relationship between different parameters that influence water quality.
