Assessment of Acute Toxidty of Organomineral Chelate Complex for Danio Rerio Fish

The paper evaluates the acute toxicity of the organomineral chelate complex on Danio rerio (Zebrafish). Chelated compounds are widely used in animal husbandry because they provide more efficient assimilation of metals than when delivered as part of inorganic salts. Correction of the mineral component of diets helps to increase the productive qualities of the animal and reduce unit costs. The search for effective and non-toxic chelate compounds for aquaculture is an urgent task. The acute toxicity of an organomineral chelate complex (JUPITER LLC, Russia) was determined. The active basis of a biologically active additive is a complex of ethylenediaminediantaric acid and lysine with trace elements (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Co, Se, I). The work was performed according to the recommendations of OECD No. 203 on the basis of the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology of the St. Petersburg State University of Veterinary Medicine. Adult Danio rerio individuals were used as a model organism. It was found that the use of the chelate complex in concentrations of 0.5–0.0039 g/l did not lead to the death of animals. The maximum concentration that does not cause the death of fish and the minimum concentration that causes the death of organisms are 0.5 g/l and 1.0 g/l, respectively. The median lethal concentration (LC50) is 9.83 g/l. The conducted studies make it possible to avoid the use of commercial fish to determine the tolerated dosages.
