Finding Beauty in Mobile EEG When Visiting Art Exhibitions

Neuroaesthetics studies the biological bases of aesthetic experiences. In this paper, we describe a method, based on EEG signals, aimed at recognizing the experience of beauty when users are exposed to art. The method is evaluated on a public dataset collected from the visitors of an art exhibit in a museum, where signals were collected by means of mobile EEG solutions, thus ensuring a naturalistic setting. Besides presenting the results, characterized by good accuracy, we also describe the main problems, and the related solutions, found during the different stages of the method.
