Forensic Victimology and Context Analysis: The Ecological-Intersectional Dimensions Model on the Victimization Context

Victimology is defined as a social science with a humanitarian dimension focused on the scientific study of victims of violence to identify, analyze, interpret, and explain processes of (re)victimization, polyvictimization, as well as the study of procedures for defense, assistance, reparation, and prevention that guide to de-victimization. Victimology manages to make visible in a social-structural way the multiple forms of violence but also accomplishes to recognize the place of the victims and survivors and their experience of victimization. This chapter aims to explain and provide a victimological methodology of an ideographic nature for the examination of the context of vulnerability and victimization in environments such as feminicide, which has been called the “Ecological-Intersectional Dimensions Model on the Victimization Context.” This model focuses on the interactions between the various life contexts and examines these through differentiated and specialized approaches to address the particularities of Feminicide in a particular time, mode, and place. The chapter addresses substantial information on Forensic Victimology as the transdisciplinary area responsible for providing contextual evidence on victimization at a court of law. Context Analysis is referred to and explained as a base paradigm examination of the characteristics and circumstances of victimization (Feminicide) applicable to each case.
