Truth, Memory, Therapeutical, and Social Justice: Towards a Victimology About Victims, for Victims and Along with Victims of Femi[ni]cide

This chapter aims to provide an overview of the actions that have to be conceived in those processes after the forensic investigation, which allows moving towards a path to repairing the harm using symbolic mechanisms in conjunction with paradigms from therapeutic justice (therapeutical jurisprudence). In order to bring a more effective response to victimization contexts derived from Feminicide, a Victimology “about” victims (a context-centered approach to understanding victimization and its subsequential access of truth), a Victimology “for” victims (supporting, accompanying, and intervening with victims to develop processes of healing, social agency, social capital, and reconstruction of life projects), and a Victimology “along with” victims (making visible, heard and recognized victims and survivors’ narratives to trace the routes to understand the process of victimization (harm), their needs of repair, and de-victimization processes) are required. This chapter brings some conclusions that emphasize the need to adjust the forensic, investigative, and probative mechanisms according to the needs of people who suffered gendered violence.
