Sustainability in Supply Chains: Main Theories

  • Federica Pascucci

摘要

This chapter explores the ongoing academic debate on sustainability in supply chains. It opens with an introduction that defines sustainability as an interorganizational issue, considering that firms need to interact with various supply chain members and other stakeholders to achieve their sustainability goals. This involves considering extended supply chains and wider networks of relationships that encompass actors, such as non-governmental organizations, public bodies, regulators, and universities. The main theories consistent with this perspective are then presented, focusing on their contribution about sustainability in supply chains.
