Food ordering system in extended reality (XR) technology refers to a comprehensive system or application that utilizes XR technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or mixed reality (MR) to enhance the food ordering process. This system may incorporate various XR elements, such as interactive menus, virtual dining experiences, or immersive environments, to allow users to browse menu items, customize orders, and visualize dishes before placing an order. It typically involves the integration of XR technology into the entire food ordering workflow, from menu selection to payment and order fulfillment. However, the problem with VR implementation is scene complexity in VR that creates motion sickness and interaction in AR only will limits the user preferences. This paper explains the development state to develop a food ordering system in XR application. This study presents the preliminary study on the previous works for AR in the food ordering system. Then, it explains the design of the XR framework for the food ordering system. Finally, this research shows the integration results of the XR framework into the food ordering system. XR menu specifically refers to a digital menu that leverages XR technologies to enhance the browsing and selection of menu items. Unlike a full-fledged food ordering system, an XR menu may focus solely on presenting menu options in an immersive or interactive way using AR, VR, or MR. XR technology has enhanced the user experience and using XR to improve the conventional food ordering system.
