Climate change has become one of the most researched areas of human development in recent times. Climate change poses a critical challenge to economic development and the future of the plate. Part of the efforts identified as efficient and effective in mitigating climate change is adequate waste management. Waste management has been a challenging aspect of climate change and environmental sustainability, especially in the developing parts of the world. Municipal waste generation poses a significant environmental sustainability challenge, where waste generation is not met with adequate management processes. A conflict is an unfortunate event that is met with significant waste generation, which adds to the existing waste challenges faced by societies significantly. Libya is a country that has been characterized as having inadequate waste management infrastructure before the 2011 conflict, and the 2011 conflict has significantly contributed to the amount of waste generated. This paper investigates the impact of conflict waste generated in Libya, the challenges posed by waste generation, and the impact it has on climate change and sustainable development. The study also reviews the efficient methods and approaches to ensure adequate conflict-generated waste, and its applicability in Libya.
