Integration of Artificial Intelligence with Environmental Biosensors

Environmental monitoring is a critical tool for protecting human health and the environment. Traditional biosensors have played a crucial role in detecting various environmental parameters, but their potential is significantly enhanced when coupled with AI technologies. Moreover, traditional monitoring methods are often expensive, time-consuming, and limited in scope. Biosensors offer a promising alternative, providing real-time, sensitive, and cost-effective monitoring of various environmental contaminants. This review summarizes the recent progress in environmental biosensors, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence (AI). AI-enabled biosensors have the potential to revolutionize environmental monitoring, making it more efficient, accurate, and user-friendly. The review begins by providing an overview of the basic principles of biosensors and AI. It then discusses the advantages of biosensors for environmental monitoring and the challenges that remain to be addressed. The review concludes by discussing the potential impact of AI-enabled biosensors on the future of environmental monitoring.
