The evaluation of wind resources is necessary for the development of wind power projects that will enhance energy security, address environmental challenges, and achieve sustainability development goals. Particularly in developing countries, satellite data can be utilized as an alternative to meteorological data in assessing the country's wind potential. Consequently, the primary goal of this study is to assess Sudan's wind potential and the techno-economic viability of wind farms to generate electricity at eight locations. The results showed high-capacity wind turbines (MWs) with a height of 50 m and above can be suitable for gathering the wind energy potential in the selected locations. Thus, performance of seven wind turbines with various specifications was investigated. The results demonstrated that the Ferris Wheel-Based wind turbine is the most efficient wind turbine under consideration. It highlights strategic wind farm investments to achieve sustainable growth for the country, assist policymakers in long-term planning, develop wind energy projects, and attract important investments.

摘要
