Theoretical Considerations on Culture and Acculturation
摘要
This chapter establishes a foundation for the empirical and methodological exploration of migrant acculturation through the lens of law. It critically examines the concept of culture within acculturation research, highlighting its often overlooked role. The chapter traces the evolution of acculturation theories and approaches toward various acculturation orientations, scrutinizing their strengths and weaknesses, particularly from a qualitative research perspective. The Relative Acculturation Extended Model is presented as the theoretical framework underpinning the study, with necessary modifications outlined to align it with specific research objectives.
