Perhaps the most vivid illustration of Hôtel Lambert’s multilayered, complicated, and ambiguous views and plans concerning the Austrian Empire was the turn of the 1830s and 1840s. The primary focus of European geopolitics again revolved around the Eastern Question and the destiny of the Ottoman Empire.
