Polish Diplomacy and the Austrian Empire During the November Uprising of 1830–1831

  • Oliver Zajac

摘要

The objective of this chapter is not a comprehensive analysis of the political and diplomatic events surrounding the November Uprising and Czartoryski’s role in its entirety. The focus lies almost exclusively on specific issues that influenced the development of political thought regarding the Austrian Empire among later leaders of the Hôtel Lambert. Therefore, the leitmotif is the idea and demand conveyed by Polish representatives to the Viennese court, supplemented by questions of how these proposals or attitudes were communicated and their foundations. In contrast to later democratic leaders of the Great Emigration, Czartoryski and some of his collaborators were directly engaged in diplomatic affairs and subsequently affected by these experiences.
