摘要

Caruncular lesions are rare but can present a clinical challenge because of the wide variety of lesions that can arise in this complex structure; also most of the clinical features can overlap between distinct entities. The vast majority of the caruncle lesions are benign, and of these, the most common are nevus or epithelial origin lesions. Malignant lesions arising from the caruncle tend to have a worse prognosis than their conjunctival counterparts because of their close proximity to adjacent structures or their intimate relation to the orbit. Biopsy should be done in all caruncle lesions if malignancy is suspected.
