Retinal Tumors: Emerging Drug Therapy
摘要
Expanding indications as well as development of newer therapies have given rise to additional treatment options for retinal tumors, in particular retinal astrocytic hamartoma and retinal capillary hemangioblastoma. The emerging use of mTOR inhibitors and HIF-2α inhibitors to treat these retinal tumors has yielded early encouraging results. While retinal astrocytic hamartoma does not generally require treatment, mTOR inhibitors offer an attractive option for aggressive, vision-threatening lesions. Likewise, retinal capillary hemangioblastoma can frequently be treated with currently available options; however, HIF-2α inhibitors provide a noninvasive mode of therapy and can potentially add benefit in some settings.
