Designing Virtual Professional Learning Using Universal Design for Learning and Artificial Intelligence
摘要
Advances in school technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), will significantly impact teachers. As new instructional technology becomes available, teachers must adapt, and school administrators must provide appropriate professional development to support them. To address this need, we developed a virtual professional learning program for teachers focused on instructional technology for differentiation and personalized learning. In phase one of the study, the teachers completed a virtual course on technology integration into the classroom. In phase two, the teachers were grouped into virtual networks to share and receive support while implementing new instructional practices with their students. At the study’s conclusion, the teachers reported increased ease towards using online learning tools and self-efficacy for implementing the new instructional practices. This paper discusses how instructors can incorporate AI tools into professional learning to create flexibility, choice, and multimodal content that is transferable across virtual, blended, and in-person settings.
