Rationales and Reflections on Education in Morocco

  • Hamza R’boul

摘要

This chapter sets out the rationales for writing this book. It unpacks how this work interweaves the author’s experience as a student, educator and scholar who has witnessed the developments and the frustrations that the education system in Morocco has gone through in recent years. This experience is useful in unravelling the range of complexities that characterize educational planning and policies in the country in terms of sociocultural fabrics and sociopolitical dimensions. The focus here is on the underlying conditions, needs and objectives of education in a postcolonial sphere such as Morocco which is still grappling to move forward in ways that undo the enduring colonial legacies within the education system, model, policies, epistemologies, praxis, language and pedagogy. The chapter entwines the personal, the pedagogic, the cultural and the political and discusses how they inform the debates around education as a sociopolitical scope that contributes substantial implications for Morocco society. This chapter also outlines the main arguments presented throughout the book.
