Postmodern Fermi Liquids: A Conceptual Overview

Before delving into the technical details of the postmodern formalism, we provide a conceptual overview of the procedure. This chapter lays the groundwork for the application of the method of coadjoint orbits to systems with Fermi surfaces and describes why this method is very naturally suited to developing a theory of Fermi surfaces.
