Cultural Considerations
摘要
Within the criminal justice system, racial inequities have existed. These inequities exist on multiple levels and permeate policing, arrest rates, and juries, leading to differential treatment. Increased arrests and incarceration have disproportionately impacted Latino and Black communities, leading to further impacts within their communities in terms of employment options, family sustainability, and crime statistics. By recognizing the impact of these inequalities, further developments can be addressed to reduce them. These inequalities were mobilized during the 1980s and 1990s, with a higher percentage of minorities being arrested. Despite the knowledge base already established on the racial inequities, there is still a lack of understanding with how these inequities persist.
